Fall 2020 Updates

Hi Pumpies, parents, patrons, and friends,

Thanks to the members who took the time to share their thoughts with us regarding Fall planning. Rest assured we are continuing to monitor the latest news with regards to the ongoing global pandemic and public health/safety advisories. We know you have long awaited news about what our 2020-21 season will look like, and we are finally ready and able to share some news with you.

Overall, the big news is that it is not safe to have a live audience in our intimate theatre, and large rehearsal groups are not compliant with physical distancing guidelines required by current standards. We’re deep in the planning stages of several projects that we think you’ll be excited to enjoy. Some of our events will be “live-captured” and some will be recorded 100% online, with all events to be streamed online for Fall 2020.

See below for the ones we’re ready to announce… and don’t worry! More announcements will be coming soon.

  • Puffs, Elf the Musical, and For A Good Time, Mary are postponed to dates TBD. We know lots of Pumpies are excited about these shows, so we want to be sure it’s safe for lots and lots of folks to try out and participate.
  • The Pumphouse Junior team has crafted a series of one-day Jr. workshops to rehearse and record short plays written by local writers. These short plays will be “live captured” in person and aired as one big online event for the Jr. Halloween Shorts! Click here to learn more and to register for online auditions. Audition videos are due August 14th.
  • We are hosting three more Local Playwright Series readings in 2020, with more to come in 2021! Get all the details and reserve your streaming tickets here.
  • Pumphouse and The In-House Writers are producing four online short play festival events featuring short plays written by playwrights from around the world. More details coming soon!
  • If you’re not available on our regular event dates/times, we’re offering select online events for OnDemand replay. Check them out here.
  • We have creative teams working on special events for Halloween, Christmas, and not one but TWO surprise musical events! More details coming soon.

Do you want to get involved? If you’re a performer or someone who’s always wanted to give it a try, we would be really excited to have a chance to see your audition! Get details and sign up for auditions for adults here or register your performer (K-12) for our Jr. auditions here. All audition videos are due by August 14th. If you’re a director who wants to participate in directing online shorts or readings, please contact us at info@pumphouseplayers.com.

We know that we are all anxious to be back together, enjoying creating shows and experiencing the special kind of energy that comes with live shows. We are ready to get back to the boards as regularly scheduled, just as soon as it’s safe, responsible, and allowable to do so. For now, we’re committed to finding ways to keep creating together and trying new things. We’re maintaining strict cleaning and disinfecting standards, limited group sizes for any rehearsals/recording sessions, and scheduling use of space with physical distancing in mind.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Board of Directors at info@pumphouseplayers.com.
